I recently was introduced to one of the best looking soap shops I've seen in a while! With fun names for her products like, "Clean your Kumquat", "UGLY Soap' It will scrub the Ugly off ya", and "Foamy top Latte Bar", who could resist checking out the delicious soaps at My Birch!
I had a chance to chat with Katie from My Birch, and ask her a bit about her soaps and her business. Katie really prides herself on her products and rightfully so! Katie thrives on making a perfectly balance bar of soap, with skin loving oils and milks; Fun, happy and interesting scents; And an amazing artistic flair. She is happy with the niche she has carved for herself, but believes there is always room to grow and push to be even more unique and ahead of the pack.
Katie has always been interested in girlie things like soap and beauty products. Never happy with the store bought soaps, she knew there was a place for her to bridge that gap. Katie says, "I've always been creative and self reliant. I was a slave to Google for weeks learning all I can about the vast world of soaping. I made my first batch and it was true love from then on out."
Of course, I had to ask Katie where she gets her inspiration. She explained that she's inspired by everything around her. Seeing all the leaves changing inspired her lively Pumpkin Spice bar, Dreaming of a Bahama vacation brought on my Beach Bar. She says, "I want soap to be not only moisturizing, but fun and artistic! With my scents, I use my nose to guide me. I never want my soaps to be too saturated. I want it to be a perfect balance to soothe your senses every morning, and not give you a headache! I love summery scents and upbeat notes, summer for all of us is the happiest time of year. I like to bring that feeling back to you every time you hop in the shower with one of my soaps."
So, if you want to wake up each morning and relive your beach vacation, or feel the warmth of sweater on a cool autumn day, or even the remember the playful memories Bazooka Bubble Gum brings back, jump over to Katie's shop, My Birch, and check out her lovely collection of soaps.
